  Given that you generally get what you pay for, we should have realised that we weren't really getting a four-star hotel when we booked our room at the Chifley Plaza. While the room was clean and the bed comfortable, the facilities were more in line with what you'd expect from a three-star hotel. There was no hair dryer, the kettle was old and its lid broken. A light in the room was not working and was not fixed despite reporting it. The carpet in the hallway was worn through.
  Parking is on the street, and a fee is payable for all nearby parking during business hours.
  We were woken by the fire alarm very early one morning. We received no instructions from management, but eventually everyone filed down the stairs and onto the street. The fire brigade arrived and eventually announced it to be a false alarm and everyone filed back in. Not a single word was heard from management during or after the event.
